As of today, 12th April 2018, Carpetright plc is entering into a Company Voluntary Arrangement or ‘CVA’, and, if the CVA is approved we expect to close 81 stores in September 2018, you may find the list of potential closure stores below.
Planned closures will not affect any orders you might have placed with us and all orders will be fulfilled. If you have placed an order with a store that is set to close the store team will endeavour to complete your order before September. Should that not be possible, your order will be transferred to the nearest Carpetright store and the team will write to you with revised contact details.
There are currently over 400 Carpetright stores across the UK including many instances where our stores are less than five miles apart, and, with more and more customers choosing to shop online, this simply isn’t sustainable for us. Following these potential closures, we will still retain a retail estate of approximately 300 stores so it’s likely that most customers will still have a Carpetright store nearby.
The objective of the CVA is to establish a right-sized and right-rented estate of contemporary stores, complemented with a strong online offer, and it’s our belief that this is the best solution for our business and our customers. The CVA process will take some time to complete and we expect to be able to confirm the store closures within six weeks.
Should you have any queries at all please don’t hesitate to contact us, for queries relating to an outstanding order please contact your local store, for anything else please contact our Customer Services Team.

A CVA means a Company Voluntary Arrangement. We are seeking a voluntary agreement with the landlords of uneconomic properties with the aim of closing unprofitable stores or bringing the rents down to affordable levels.
We have over 400 stores across the UK and the majority will be unaffected by this process. The aim of the CVA is to ensure that all the stores we trade in are profitable, so that we have a secure future. The actions we are taking are to secure the financial security of the business.
A company can propose a voluntary arrangement under which all, or the majority of its creditors accept deals designed to assist a broader turnaround plan. A CVA requires the approval of at least 75%, in value, of its creditors. Once approved, a CVA is binding on all creditors, including any creditors who did not vote or voted against the proposal.
We have announced today our intention to proceed with a CVA which would see us close 81 stores. The list of potential closure stores is now available published above and is subject to CVA approval. We expect be able to confirm if the CVA has been approved within two weeks and to be able to confirm if the stores are closing within approximately six weeks.
Any closures will take place over several months, allowing for the full satisfaction of customer orders and the redeployment of colleagues wherever possible. We expect all potential closure stores to remain open until the end of September 2018.
If you have placed an order with a store that is due to close it will be business as usual at that store until the final days. If your order is due to be fitted before the closure date there will be no change required, if your order is due to be fitted after the closure date it will be transferred to your nearest store and you will be notified.
You don’t need to do anything at all, if any change is required we will contact you by post, email or telephone in the coming weeks.
All after-sales care will be honoured as usual regardless of any closures, if the store where you made your original purchase closes in the future, please contact our Customer Services Team.
