Deck the halls - Christmas hallway decorating ideas
From twinkling fairy lights to garlands brimming with baubles, colourful candy and embellished wreaths, dress your hallways and the rest of your home with festive cheer this coming Christmas!
Create your very own winter wonderland

Mix and match different colours of fairy lights to create your very own winter wonderland. Hang them from the ceiling, drape them around a mirror or fashion a glowing garland to the door to create some jovial ambience.
Colourful candy strands
Take inspiration from the sugar plum fairy and swap traditional popcorn and cranberry garlands for colourful strands overflowing with vibrant sweets. Entwine them through bannisters or hang them above a doorway to create a little fail-safe festive cheer.
To make these easy yet effective garlands, you’ll need an ordinary office stapler and a generous stash of wrapped sweets. Simply staple the ends of the wrappers together and hang them wherever you please. Yummy and decorative!
Add colour to your hallways
Before decking the halls with boughs of holly, freshen-up the walls with a lick of paint. Christmas is the one time of year we tend to welcome hordes of visitors into our homes, so why not spruce it up a little?
A warm and welcoming hue can instantly transform the area into an inviting space.
Add new flooring

A heavy traffic area, such as the hallway, demands a tough, durable flooring to withstand the wear and tear of many footsteps. Oak laminate flooring is a popular option for the hallway and aside from looking like the real thing, it requires little maintenance and is generally a lot more cost-effective. Dark wood grains also work well and look beautiful in a room with an open fire — guaranteed to keep you warm and toasty this Christmas.
Just remember to use laminate underlay when installing laminate flooring — this will ensure a soundproofing quality whilst protecting the material from imperfections and moisture damage. Finish the look with a festively coloured rug.
These early preparations are guaranteed to have you singing Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la all the way up to the 25th!
