How to remove tomato stains from carpet

The problem with tomatoes is that they seem to be the opposite colour of today’s home interiors. No matter how careful you are, especially if you have kids, red splatters on light coloured carpets seem to be an inevitable occurrence.

Follow these steps to help remove tomato ketchup, fresh tomato juice and tomato pasta sauce:

  1. Using a butter or pallet knife, scrape as much of the stain off the surface as you can
  2. Gently blot the stain with a damp cloth or sponge – do not wipe or rub!
  3. Return to the stain with a dry cloth and gently blot it dry
