As the Formula One season moves to the Italian city of Monza on the 6th September, here at Carpetright we have been inspired by all this famous racing city has to offer. Here are our top tips on how to bring a taste of the European city in to your home.

Historic palace in the Monza Park

A walk in the park

Monza’s Parco di Monza is one of the largest enclosed parks in Europe, and was commissioned by Napoleon during the French occupation of northern Italy. The park is twice the size of New York’s Central Park and is also home to the city’s race tracks. Whatever time of year you visit a walk through this gigantic space is certain to let nature inspire you.

Be inspired by history

Interior view of Monza Cathedral

The city’s cathedral, or Duomo, is said to date back in part to 600AD and was completed in full in 1681. It is also home to the Iron Crown of Lombardy which is said to have been part-constructed by a nail from the True Cross. Achieve a grand look in your own home by adding in some tile-effect vinyl flooring or if you want to make a subtler statement why not gain inspiration from the wooden pews by choosing laminate flooring in a matching-colour tone?

Feel the need for speed

Monza Ferrari F1 Grand Prix

Of course, the racing track is one of the area’s most famous sites and it has played host to the Formula One series many times. The main feature of the track is the Curva Grande. Why not take a look at our post on how to achieve a Grand Prix inspired games room or give your children a taste of the event by kitting out their room with a feature race track print carpet?

Roam free

Many of the city’s central streets are pedestrianised and you can while away the hours aimlessly wandering and window shopping in many of the city’s boutiques. Whilst on your walk you can take in some more of the city’s infamous sites such as the Ponte dei Leoni and the Arengario. Be inspired by the cobbled streets and opt for a mosaic effect flooring on your return home, or choose a light grey carpet to add a chic-city style to your home.

A taste of the good life

Italy is of course famous for its food and Monza has plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars all serving up various Italian delights. Whether its a pasta dish, a sweet treat or a slice of pizza that takes your fancy you can be certain to find something to suit your tastes and experience la dolce vita!
