Storage beds look very much like our stylish upholstered divans and are a great way to inject some luxury into the bedroom, complete with an array of contemporary headboards to complement any room or scheme.
Now that you’ve selected your style and dream bed, it’s time to tailor your bed to suit your lifestyle. Matching your bed with the right headboard or mattress will complete the look, of course, but storage is also something you should consider as there are some great space-saving solutions available that will keep your bedroom clutter-free and comfortable.
Many beds can be ordered with different combinations of drawers within the bed base. Here you can store extra blankets, pillows, linen and other possessions. You can choose from two or four drawers or even continental drawers to maximise the amount of storage you have in your bedroom.
Firstly, you will need to look at the size of a frame as a whole, as opposed to just the mattress. Some bed frames extend past the area of the mattress itself, so you’ll want to avoid ending up with a bed that is actually too large for your bedroom. On the other end of the scale, if you have a particularly large room, you want to make sure your bed fills the space and doesn’t look lost. Make sure you leave enough space either side of the bed to allow you to open storage drawers!
A lot of bed frames that arrive with storage drawers are upholstered in a range of materials including wool, velvet and fabric. Each material will have its own specific care instructions, but as an example, fabric can be vacuumed to get rid of any dust that might build up over time. When thinking about where you’re going to put your bed, it’s also beneficial to bear in mind that too much sunlight can bleach the colour of your bed frame.
