If your usual Christmas habit is to leave card-posting until the very last possible date, or maybe you even find a stack of un-addressed envelopes on Boxing Day that you didn't manage to get addresses for in time to send? Well, if this is you, why not surprise your friends and family and send your cards out early this year?
Prepare your address book this week as well as buying those cute cards, and then plan some time in this weekend to relax with a mug of hot chocolate and your favourite pen and get writing!
From today we will see our local towns and villages begin to light up with Christmas lights, which also reminds us to think about lighting in our homes too. Why not lower the dimmer switch on those dark evenings, and light some candles and lanterns instead.
When choosing candles, opt for dark reds, golds and copper tones to add to the wintery atmosphere and experiment with a range of scents. From cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, sugar plum and burnt toffee to toasted marshmallow and forest pine....the choices are endless!
When the nights begin to draw in and the leaves start to fall from the trees you know it's time to start wrapping up and what better way to get all warm and get cosy than with an Ultimate Slanket and a pair of Microwavable Boot Slippers! This amazing combo will have you as snug as a bug in a super soft rug.
We have partnered with Findmeagift.com so that you can win both these items in time for Christmas. To enter, simply follow us on Twitter today and send us a festive message with the hashtag #comehometocosyday6Enter today's competition now
If you were one of the thousands of people who went to pick up your Christmas tree yesterday, then tonight is the night for adding some creative inspiration to that lovely green pine of yours.
Once you have decided on your colour theme, lay out all your decorations on the floor and visualise how your final tree will look.
Step 1. Hang the lights on as these will form the base of the dressing
Step 2. Add on any garlands or tinsel making sure that the tree is evenly covered with lights and wrap
Step 3. Finally, add your ornaments - larger ornaments around the bottom of the tree and smaller ornaments towards the top for a nice balance
If you are already suffering the consequences of the Christmas build-up and your children are finding it hard to sleep out of sheer excitement, then treat your little ones to an early gift and invest in some new kids bedroom accessories.
Either opt for a whole new bunk bed, or some cosy new bedding with your child's favourite colours and patterns. Either way you are sure to help them get more excited about bedtime and temporarily forget about the arrival of Santa Claus!
When it comes to winter, staying in is the new going out. All you need is a delicious cheeseboard to nibble at and a bottle or two of your favourite wine to enjoy. Then, you're all set to snuggle up in front of the TV. It's what cosy nights in are made of.

"This Christmas I'm excited to see gold and silver make way for mercury highlights instead. It looks particularly lovely with a neutral palette of creams, pale greys and light wood, a sophisticated Christmas look that should stand the test of time. Try using mercury finished baubles, vases filled with twigs and candle holders to run this trend through your interiors and create a cosy atmosphere in your home."

"Why not create your own wrapping paper by simply using a roll of paper in your colour of choice. Gather some ink or paint to fleck coloured speckles across the whole surface. Allow to dry and then wrap your gifts, finishing it all off by cross tying some twine around the parcel and adding a sprig of foliage. Perfect for giving your gifts a personal touch."

Here are our some tips on creating the perfect festive drinks party:

3. Winter shoes and boots can make a horrid mess on floors and carpets during parties, so why not ask guests to remove their shoes and treat everyone to a pair of Christmas socks to put on when they come in?

"I love making a new advent calendar each year. For a very simple but effective idea, buy 25 small boxes and glue the base of a mini bottle brush Christmas tree on each. Cut 25 strips of paper, write all your numbers on them and then folding with a dot of glue in the middle, attach them to the top of each Christmas tree to create numbered flags. Then all that's left to do is fill the boxes with treats! "

"Baking mince pies is a bit of a tradition in our home and definitely signals the start of Christmas. I have to say I usually buy the filling rather than making it but I tend to spice it up further with a pinch of ground cloves along with some extra cinnamon and nutmeg. If you haven't tried a warm mince pie with vanilla ice-cream then you must right away! From Christmas nibble to full blown dessert!"
