February is synonymous with Valentine's Day and finding special ways to express our love, breathe new life into relationships or begin new romances.
So whilst love is in the air this month, I want to offer some tips on how to breathe new life into items in your home that may need a bit of extra attention in order to make them special, so you can fall in love with your home décor again.Take a moment to look with fresh eyes at the things you own to see what potential they could have with the help of a little makeover:
Sofas & chairs can be brought up-to-date by transforming old dresses, skirts and shirts into cushion covers.
These can also be used to make table runners or stretched over a canvas to create simple wall art…this will revitalise old lamp shades too.
Old upholstered seating can become a fabulous focal
feature when reupholstered in a new patterned fabric.
Check out our Trends section for information on the latest colours and styles.
Think about what you do and don't use and
love in your home.
Clearing away the clutter and excess will free precious space in your home allowing you to truly enjoy the things around you and will feel like a fresh start.
This should leave you with only the items you own that are meaningful, useful or attractive. Make sure to leave at least 1 item in each of your rooms that you really love and brings back happy memories. Then, every time you make a new purchase for your home, try to only buy items you love so eventually all the things in your home will make you feel happy and content!
