Rug Stains and Spills

As with carpet cleaning, you should never rub the surface of your rug as this can damage the look and feel. Liquid spills should be cleaned by blotting the area with a dry cloth or paper towel and wiping the spill from the outside to avoid spreading.

Caring For Shaggy Rugs

Shaggy rugs can hold dirt or sand. You should shake your shaggy rug to remove any grit or loose fibres before cleaning and then use the lowest setting on your vacuum cleaner. This will help minimalize shedding. We have have created our rug care guide to help care for your new shaggy rug.

Caring For Natural Fibre and Loop Pile Rugs

When using a vacuum on your natural fibre or loop pile rug you need to ensure you only use the suction mode without the beater bar. This will minimalize rug damage. We have have created our rug care guide to help care for your new natural fibre and loop pile rugs.

Caring For Machine Made Rugs

When cleaning machine made rugs, it is important to try and loosen any grit whilst keeping the pile upright. Using a vacuum cleaner with a beater bar will help you achieve this. To maintain the look and feel of your rug, it is also recommended that you also clean the back of your rug from time to time. Using an upright cleaner with a beater bar to do this, you will be able to remove the grit much more easily this way. We have have created our rug care guide to help care for your new rug.

Caring For Hand Tufted Rugs

You need to be careful when cleaning hand tufted rugs. We recommend using your vacuum cleaner on the suction only setting without the beater bar. This will minimalize rug wear.

However, if you are using a beater bar, please make sure your brushes are only just skimming the surface of the pile by putting them on their highest setting. We have have created our rug care guide to help care for your new hand tufted rug.
