Caring for your Cut and Loop carpet
So you’ve gone for a cut and loop pile carpet – possibly for the attractive appeal of both the texture and the pattern. This nice little combination is achieved by tufting some loops higher than others so that when the higher tufts are cut and the lower ones are left, a pattern is created from the different heights.
We’re guessing you’ll want to keep your carpet in that kind of condition, and whilst the different heights hide footprints and dirt to a certain extent, you can still help to protect your investment.

We recommend browsing our Care and Maintenance section for our cleaning solutions and there’s also a couple of things worth mentioning regarding your cut and loop pile carpet - stay away from a synthetic cut and loop pile carpet in a room like a kitchen as oily spills can often grip the carpet fibres and cause permanent damage. Also if it’s a wool carpet, you should try to avoid placing it in a room where you’re bound to get stains, such as under the table in a dining room.
Cleaning
So what else can you do to keep your carpet looking as good as possible? We’d always recommend regular vacuuming but if you’ve just bought a cut and loop pile carpet, you’re the owner of the style that can get away with less frequent cleaning the most! That’s of course due to the forgiving nature of the varying texture of the cuts and loops. However, to keep your cut and loop in tip-top condition don’t let it be a stranger to your vacuum – as it’s certainly not one of the styles that prone to showing the marks of your machine. And when you do use it, use a suction only setting as the mechanical action of a beater bar or brush head system can damage the pile.
