Vinyl flooring, or Lino flooring, has clear advantages over other flooring types and it’s important to understand these if you are going to get the most out of this versatile flooring option. With that in mind, here is your handy guide to vinyl and the things you need to consider when choosing your new flooring.

Fitting Vinyl Flooring

Vinyl should be fitted onto a smooth, even and dry subfloor to ensure the best finish.

When fitting, you should never fit vinyl over existing vinyl flooring, ceramic tiles or directly over floorboards as the contours of this original flooring will show through. If your original floor is made of wood, then your new vinyl will need to be laid on ply or hard board, while concrete floors will need to be screeded (levelled) before your new floor can be laid.

Maintaining and Caring for Vinyl Flooring

Once laid, you will have a tough and durable floor but you will need to ensure any spots, marks or spillages are cleared as soon as possible. Vinyl flooring should be swept with a soft broom and wiped over with a clean and damp mop or cloth.

The use of protective covers is also recommended to protect your new flooring from appliances such as cookers or washing machines. When moving large appliances, you should be mindful of your floor as dragging appliances across vinyl could tear or scuff the surface.

It's really easy to order vinyl (lino) flooring samples.  Just choose the floor on the website and check the box that we display if we have the vinyl sample in stock ready to send out to you.  Once you've ordered it, you'll receive it within 3 - 5 working days (Royal Mail dependent) and then you're free to make your choice at your leisure.

Once you've decided on the vinyl sample you'd like to live with, you can order it either over the telephone by calling 0845 604 4995 between 8am and 8pm 7 days a week, call in to store or type the name on the back of the vinyl sample in to the search box online and once you've entered your measurements, just hit the buy now button and you'll be guided through the rest of the quick and easy process.

Vinyl flooring, or Lino,  is made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) which is tough, durable, water-resistant and slip-resistant.

Please be aware that discolouration can occur if an incorrect cleaning product is used so always check the manual and follow Carpetright advice.
